Position Overview:
Navistar is seeking a Senior Test Engineer in the Vehicle Dynamics Group.
This position is focused on Vehicle ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for Autonomous Vehicle development testing. Projects will be run on prototype class 5-8 commercial trucks and buses at the Navistar Proving Grounds in New Carlisle, IN. The Test Engineer will conduct vehicle-level development testing, data collection, data analysis, and data reporting and documentation. You will work within the greater Research and Development team to evaluate the vehicle-level performance of autonomous vehicles.
Responsibilities:
Coordination of test vehicle preparation including component upfit and instrumentation
In-vehicle testing on three-mile oval track and vehicle dynamic areas using data acquisition
Driving commercial trucks and buses to perform defined vehicle maneuvers
Validating vehicle performance according to defined requirements
Perform data analysis under the guidance of the technical engineer
Clearly and concisely communicate and present test results. Document data and results in written reports
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills:
Knowledge in vehicle dynamics and ADAS feature performance
Knowledge with testing practices, instrumentation, and data acquisition
CDL or ability to obtain a CDL
Ability to travel approximately 10%

Excellent Communication Skills – both written and verbal
