Overview:
Responsible for providing patient care and treatment within the Urogynecology subspecialty at EVMS. Function as an independent provider in the evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Review and follow-up on diagnostic and laboratory tests. This position requires travel to multiple office locations.
Responsibilities:
Obtain a complete health, psychosocial, obstetric, and gynecologic history and record findings in a systematic, accurate, and succinct form
Perform physical examinations with specific emphasis on the pelvic floor.
Perform urodynamic testing to assess bladder function.
Oversee Urogyn Nursing Team when performing Urodynamics testing in absence of a physician.
Order and interpret laboratory tests.
Provide assessment, education, and treatment for female pelvic floor disorders
Provide clinical management of women having urogynecological problems
Provide education and counseling related to pelvic health
Act as a liaison between patients, referring practices, and specialty providers regarding patient care as needed.
Prescribes or recommends drugs in accordance with state laws, or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy or related therapeutic procedures.
Records all pertinent patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by the physician.
Refers patient to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
Attendance as assigned is essential to meeting required performance duties.
May have some supervisory responsibilities over nursing staff.
PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MSN with a nurse practitioner focus is required. Must be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified nurse practitioner. Three (3) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
