Responsibilities:

Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings.

Noblis MSD is seeking a skilled Controls Test Engineer to join our team working on advanced ship steering control systems for the US Navy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems, electrical engineering, or a related field, with experience in maritime applications.  This is a long term contract.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive lab and onsite testing of ship steering control systems: • Develop and execute rigorous test plans • Perform system integration tests • Analyze and document test results • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues

Contribute to technical documentation: • Assist in developing and updating technical manuals • Create clear, detailed reports on test procedures and outcomes

Support fleet implementation and fielding: • Assist in developing implementation strategies for new systems • Collaborate with Navy personnel on system deployment • Provide technical support during sea trials and initial system operation

Provide design and equipment acquisition support: • Assist in system design processes • Support the selection and procurement of equipment

Continuous improvement: • Recommend system enhancements based on test results • Stay current with relevant technologies and industry standards

Limited hybrid work environment but the candidate must be local to Philidelphia, PA to come in as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a closely related field and three (3) years minimum technical experience in architecting and designing electrical / mechanical systems, or a HS Degree and a minimum of nine (9) additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of the degree

Strong understanding of control theory

Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and maintenance

Proficiency in troubleshooting lab and system hardware

General Windows OS experience (Installation, Configuration, Troubleshooting)

Understanding of Configuration Management concepts and lockdowns

CompTIA Security+ certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hiring if not already held Noblis will provide training and pay for the exam)

DOD Secret clearance preferred or the ability to obtain a clearance

Ability to travel up to 25% to various fleet locations and facilities

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with various stakeholders, including Navy personnel and technical teams. 

Desired Qualifications:

PLC knowledge and programming experience

Familiarity with maritime systems and naval operations

Experience with US Navy Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT)

C/C++ programming skills
