Join us as a Principal Software Developer (C/Golang) and shape the future of analytics! We are seeking a visionary technical leader to spearhead innovation on our cutting-edge Cloud Analytics and Compute Server, the powerhouse behind SAS Viya. As a Principal Software Developer, you will drive the evolution of our fundamental engine and programming environment, while also pioneering the development of our Next Generation analytic engine for Viya Workbench and Compute Core. This role offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in our core C codebase, architecting and implementing solutions that will define the future of analytics. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping SAS's next-generation analytic engine—a cornerstone of our company's strategic vision and a game-changer in the analytics industry. As a Principal Software Developer, you will:

Lead the design and development of high-quality, testable, and scalable software solutions in C and Golang in a Linux and/or Windows environment.

Architect complex software systems and guide their implementation within established timelines while ensuring adherence to R&D best practices and processes.

Lead and participate in scoping, planning, and tracking work on complex software development projects in a continuous delivery environment.

Conduct and lead design, code, and documentation reviews, providing expert guidance to the team.

Serve as a technical authority, maintaining accountability for the entire life cycle of the product code including providing high-level technical support for both internal and external consumers.

Lead and mentor other developers in pushing the boundaries of what's possible in analytics

Collaborate with diverse, passionate experts from around the world

Drive innovation and set technical direction in an ever-evolving field

Required qualifications

Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Statistics, Math, or a related discipline.

12+ years of software development experience in C/Golang, with a proven track record of leading complex projects.

Expert-level computer programming skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Extensive experience with CI/CD pipeline and associated tools like Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, GitHub, etc.

Proven ability to architect and implement portable code/testing for multiple hosts like Windows and Unix.

Demonstrated expertise in understanding and designing complex logic / architecture between clients / servers.

Ability to quickly assimilate technical material and handle deadlines in a multiple task environment.

Extensive experience with SAS programming.

In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies and providers - Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, GCP, OpenShift.

Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide and develop team members.

Preferred qualifications

Software development experience in any of the following: Golang, Java, Python, Rust, Shell Scripts, etc.

Extensive experience programming in a threaded kernel environment (TK/MVA -- Multi Vendor Architecture).

Advanced knowledge of SAS programming.

Expert-level understanding of cyber security in cloud computing/Kubernetes.

In-depth knowledge about programming for sockets, ciphers, authentication methods.

Advanced proficiency with Linux.

Experience in leading architectural decisions for large-scale software systems.
