Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join its Natural Resources team in Rochester, NY. The Senior Project Manager will perform duties in support of the direction and vision of the overall discipline. The desired candidate will oversee, direct, and manage the work effort of assigned staff.

Our ecological scientists provide expertise for all stages of the land development process and to a broad cross-section of clients. To restore and protect our natural resources for future generations, our planning, field design, natural resource assessment and oversight services balance the needs of the development community and regulatory agencies. Our ecological professionals have the technical expertise, knowledge, background, and relationships to work effectively with the appropriate governing bodies and regulatory agencies concerning these important issues.

Responsibilities:

Performs duties in support of the direction and vision of the overall discipline.

Oversees, directs, and manages the work effort of assigned staff.

Collaborate with GDL’s within the region and with the Discipline Leader.

Responsible for productivity, profitability, client satisfaction and quality of work.

Active involvement with marketing and business development while involved in the cross selling of all company services.

Responsible for proposal development and contract execution.

Monitors work backlog and the sharing of work within the region and discipline.

Develops the skills and abilities of staff which are necessary for the successful execution of the work.

Reviews staff utilization regularly to address employees not meeting utilization goals.

Ensures compliance with and enforces company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Serve as a resource for project managers and staff on assigned projects and manage completion of projects regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget.

Coordinate and work closely with accounting/billing to develop and review project invoices, monitoring those of assigned billing managers. Complete all billing in a timely manner.

Manage the financial aspects of assigned team(s) and monitor the performance of the business to meet or exceed revenue and/or profit goals.

Assist with project manager’s efforts to prepare for and/or attend client/agency meetings with, or for PMs to present information pertinent to the project. Develop innovative, comprehensive multimedia support materials for client and/or agency meetings.

Assist with the quality control/quality assurance efforts on all assigned projects.

Manage the performance of all assigned staff, conduct performance evaluations, provide input for all raise and bonus discussions.

Address any performance issues on a timely basis and work with HR as needed to create performance improvement plans.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Botany, Biology, Zoology, Natural Resource Management, or related area.

10+ years of experience in related field. 7+ years of experience with preparing proposals, developing budgets, tracking budgets and the associated financial management skills necessary to run a team and monitor the performance of the business.

In-depth knowledge of federal regulations and permitting processes including but not limited to: Section 7 Review, Section 401 Clean Water Act.

Technical knowledge and experience in multiple states preferred, including but not limited to New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Maine.

Knowledge of wetland/stream mitigation design and monitoring preferred.

Technical knowledge of NYS regulatory and permitting including but not limited to Article 11, Article 24, Article 15, Coastal Erosion, etc.

Experience with the ORES permitting process.

Strong working relationships with regulatory agencies previously established is preferred.

In-depth knowledge of the SEQR process and local municipal permitting highly preferred. Willingness to attend and present at local municipal meetings when needed.

Relationship Management- Possess and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships which support the success of the Company.

Business Acumen- Knowledgeable in best practices, trends, information, and other influences that affect CED and the environment in which we work, to maintain our position as an industry leader.

Communication- Possess and demonstrate the ability, skills, and initiative to exchange information effectively and efficiently.

Program and Project Management- Possess and demonstrate the ability to lead effectively and efficiently, plan, organize and manage procedures, protocols and/or staff to achieve the desired results of specific projects and/or programs.

Professional License in related field preferred.

Valid Driver’s License preferred.

Related discipline and safety training/ certifications.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work well with and communicate with others.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time, meeting profit and revenue goals.

Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation Expectations: $117,500-$153,700 DOQ.
