Responsibilities:

Emergency Services Nurse Manager

Mercy San Juan Medical Center, a member of Dignity Health/Commonspirit Health, is looking for a strong Emergency Services Nurse Manager who enjoys a busy, multi-faceted team-oriented emergency department environment. Are you looking to be part of a national leader in trauma care? 

Mercy San Juan is the Sacramento area’s first Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Regional receiving center for many specialties including: trauma, ortho, high risk maternity, NICU and STEMI. Our fast-paced 31-bed Emergency Department has skilled physicians who work closely with specially trained nurses and other healthcare professionals. We see approximately 80,000 patients each year. Our success directly correlates with high employee satisfaction scores which can be attributed to our collaborative practice with physicians management and our involvement of staff in peer interviews.

Position Summary:

Manages the resources and daily activities of Mercy San Juan’s Emergency department while ensuring environmental factors support high standards of patient care. Assists in the training and development of new and existing staff members. Creates and maintains an environment that is conducive to learning transfer. Coordinates the activities of the unit for each shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Provides patient care as needed.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.

Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.

Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

Minimum: 

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience. 

Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience and one (1) year of leadership experience.

Current CA RN licensure

Current BLS, ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association

TNCC within 6 months of hire

MICN within 24 months of hire
