Responsibilities:

The CTOR Department at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is a vital component of the Cardiac Service Line of Excellence, providing crucial support to the "Heart & Lung Institute," the nation's sole stand-alone lung transplant center. Operating from 6:30 am to 7 pm, the CTOR houses seven surgical suites and conducts over 1500 cases annually. The staffing ratio for these cases includes two RN circulators, a cardiothoracic scrub technician, and a Physician's Assistant, supported by additional clinical, technical monitoring, and staff perfusion personnel.

As a surgical services nurse at SJHMC, you will play a pivotal role in preparing patients for surgical procedures and providing exceptional care in the operating room. Your daily responsibilities will include reviewing consent forms, addressing patient inquiries, conducting preoperative assessments, ensuring equipment readiness, and keeping family members informed about the surgery's progress. Additionally, you will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during procedures. Success in this role demands the ability to multitask effectively, maintain composure under pressure, and demonstrate sound judgment in emergency scenarios.

Responsibilities:

Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR

Care for patients before, during, and after procedures

Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients

Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies

Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Minimum:

Current AZ State RN License in good standing.

American Heart Association BLS certification.

American Heart Association ACLS certification 

ADN, Diploma, or Foreign Equivalent.

Preferred:

BSN

CT, CCRN

OR experience preferred.

Professional certification in area of specialty
