Overview:

The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations (Director) will report to the Deputy Athletic Director.  Responsible for the day-to-day administration of Facilities and Event Management. These responsibilities also include working with assigned staff on the planning and implementing of all game operation activities and the management of all the special events in Athletic department venues.

Individual will have oversite for the day-to-day facilities management and work requests. The person will also assist with Capital Project Management and Facilities Master Planning and will participate in developing and monitoring the facility and event management budget.

This position is responsible for assisting with contract management and coordination with outside agencies providing services or equipment for Athletic and University events. This position also maintains up-to-date emergency and event related policies and procedures for the department. As the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations, they will serve as the Athletic Department liaison to Event Services within the university.

This position will also act as a liaison within other units of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Utah State, as well as with the Cache Valley and Utah State University communities.  The primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight for pre and post event planning and execution of plans for all athletic events.

Oversees all event set-up and ensures that all athletic venues are in accordance with Mountain West and NCAA standards and regulations.

Oversees all Mountain West event policies and procedures are followed including game official guidelines, game management personnel responsibilities, playing surfaces safety.

Ensures that proper safety and crowd control measures are in place for entrance and exit all athletic events.

Assigns sport game management responsibilities to support staff and provides leadership and direction.

Directs operations meetings to coordinate all aspects for internal and external entities for athletic events.

Manages all budgets for events, facilities, and equipment and forecasts future expenses.

Responsible for training, supervision, instruction, and direction.Will assign work schedules and evaluate all positions.

Will assign positions to work in multiple areas when additional help is needed.

Maintain life cycle plans for all major equipment needs.

Oversee special groups used for events including table crew, replay technicians, field crew, official book, game clock, etc.Responsible to hire, train and schedule these positions.

Will work in conjunction with the Director of Operations and the Mountain West Conference

Serves as a department liaison with various campus entities, i.e. facilities, police, telecommunications, fire, all first responders, risk management, public safety.

Oversees all Athletic Department maintenance for all venues and fields in conjunction with the University Facilities Department

Prepare bids as assigned for large purchases related to events, facilities, and equipment.

Works with the Athletics Business Office and University Purchasing Department to ensure all buying rules and guidelines are followed for all equipment and uniform purchases.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

3 years of athletic work experience within athletic venue operation and management in events, facilities, or equipment

Must adhere to the University Travel and Driving policies and maintain ability to drive for official business

Must be able to work a nontraditional schedule including evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree

5 years of Division I Athletic work/internship experience in event and facilities management or equipment operations

Experience with Intercollegiate athletics or internship/work and/or high school athletics fulltime work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work in a team environment with professionalism and resourcefulness, share workloads, appropriately prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

Demonstrate the ability to lead a team and supervise multiple positions

Familiarity with spreadsheet and word-processing programs

Skilled in managing numerous, simultaneous events while maintaining meticulous attention to detail, organization, and accuracy

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently

Demonstrate the ability to understand and be sensitive to the needs of a diverse population
