About the role

A specialist education provider in Yate seeks to appoint an English Teacher. The desired Teacher will be responsible for teaching English young people with additional needs, alongside some enrichment and life skills based curricula.

The successful Teacher will have a passion for working in SEND, alongside desirable experience of teaching English previously. Teachers at this setting contribute to school community activities and enrichment programmes. This is a full time teaching role starting in January 2025, with permanent contracts being offered following a qualifying period.

About the school

The school is a specialist SEND and SEMH provider located in Burnley (BB11) that work with secondary aged students from 11-16 years old. The school provides an individualised curriculum for students teaching GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications for students with barriers to learning and from underprivileged backgrounds, with SEND needs including moderate Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia.

The school provides a strong support staff team, meaning you will be working with at least one other member of staff within the classroom. Class sizes are no bigger than 8 students per group.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEND English Teacher you will:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience working with children and families, particularly in underprivileged communities.
Must be able to work full-time and be willing to undertake a full teaching role including planning, marking and assessments.

Salary

£30,000 to £41,333 per year

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
