We are seeking an XO Trace Engineering Manager to join our team and support the XO Trace Division Manager to launch our XO Trace Engineering Department.  This important position offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of our XO Trace design services team. Overall, your role is responsible for preparing, developing, and coordinating the preparation of Heat Management System (HMS) designs and deliverables for industrial and commercial projects requiring electric, steam, or other heat trace technologies.  You will establish and maintain engineering standards, practices, & tools to ensure the quality and timely delivery of a reliable and value-engineered HMS system design according to industry standards.  As we grow the XO Trace Engineering Department, you will have the opportunity to grow your team through hiring, training, and managing personnel.

As the XO Trace Engineering Manager, you will work with Clients, Engineers, Project Managers and more, both internally and externally, on a wide range of projects.  You will report directly to our XO Trace Division Manager.  There is potential for travel to Bid Walks, Projects, and Company Events.

Primary Duties:

Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to develop & prepare HMS engineering designs and deliverables in accordance with customer contracts and HTI proposals

Support optimization strategies and provide value engineering solutions

Use the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)

Provide support as needed to prepare project change orders

Support Project Management and Construction teams on projects

Develop engineering standard work procedures, document control, quality control/assurance, guidelines, tools, deliverables package, etc.

Hire, supervise, train, & develop engineering design personnel & resources

Prepare preliminary deliverables and manage production of final deliverables

Manage engineering budget & schedule for successful completion of projects

Ensure achievement of profit and production targets

Provide department forecasting and capacity information

Coordinate with other divisions as needed

Provide support as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to estimating as needed on preliminary designs & deliverables for HMS estimates

Communicate with customers, owners, vendors, and trades

Participate in and lead weekly planning meetings with staff

Provide input on project close-outs and reviews

Attend pre-job meetings

Attend project job walks as assigned

Communication; Documentation; Organization

While it is impossible to list every duty that may be asked of an employee, the Employer may ask that an employee do other duties as the business need arises

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years formal experience planning & leading HMS engineering & design work on construction projects in industrial and commercial applications

Degree in engineering

Thorough understanding of engineering management procedures & methodologies

Complete understanding of industry codes and standards

Significant level of experience with relevant engineering tools for HMS applications (AutoCAD, Navisworks, design software, etc.)

Proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc) with an ability to competently & quickly learn new software

Thorough understanding of constructability and value engineering concepts

Ability to professionally supervise engineering department personnel and resources

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

Excellent math and organizational skills

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Willingness to learn new skills and ideas

Valid Driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.

Desired Qualifications:

Preferred 10 years of experience in HMS industry

Additional experience in construction and estimating preferred

Strong working knowledge of Viewpoint preferred
