Industrial Water Permitting Project Engineer

This role offers you an opportunity to successfully manage projects, support your team, and deliver high-quality services in the solid waste engineering field.

Main Areas Of Responsibility

1. Regulatory Compliance and Permitting

Preparing and submitting water permit applications in compliance with local, state, and federal water regulations.

Understanding and applying water quality regulations and pre-treatment standards.

Assisting clients with permitting strategies to ensure continuous compliance.

2. Industrial Wastewater and Stormwater Management

Expertise in industrial wastewater treatment, design, and permitting.

Handling NPDES permitting for industrial point sources and stormwater activities.

Developing and implementing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans.

3. Client Support and Training

Providing routine and non-routine water quality sampling and inspection support.

Assisting with training clients on compliance and environmental best practices.

4. Communication and Coordination

Communicating effectively with clients and regulatory agencies.

Supporting the preparation of proposals and regulatory reports.

Working collaboratively within a team and coordinating effectively with various stakeholders.

5. Technical Expertise and Tools

Proficiency in using Excel and Microsoft Office 365 for data analysis and report preparation.

Knowledge of environmental regulatory programs, including air quality, waste management, and environmental due diligence.

6. Attention to Detail and Deadline Management

Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all prepared documentation.

Managing multiple tasks and meeting firm deadlines, even when they are simultaneous.

7. Qualifications and Experience

A degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, with a Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, focusing on water permitting and pre-treatment design.

8. Flexibility and Independence

Ability to travel as needed and work independently in a remote setting.

Adaptability to changing project demands and working conditions.

Qualifications:

Bachelors, Masters, or other advanced degree in Environmental/Chemical/Civil Engineering.

PE licensure.

Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, focused on water permitting and pre-treatment design.

Advanced working knowledge of Excel and an understanding of the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office 365.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate and work effectively in a team setting.

Limited travel and ability to work independently in a remote work situation when needed.

Excellent attention to detail and completeness.

Must be able to perform multiple tasks with firm deadlines, sometimes deadlines could be simultaneous.

Experience with other environmental regulatory programs including air, general environmental compliance, solid and hazardous waste management, and environmental due diligence is a plus.

Commissioning and start-up experience preferred.
