Our client, a respected independent insurance agency specializing in group benefits, personal, and commercial lines of insurance, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Benefits Account Manager. This role involves taking over a well-established book of business, managing accounts that include Fully Insured, Level Funded, and Self-Funded Groups ranging from 51 to 400 lives, with a few larger Self-Funded accounts.

In this position, you will be responsible for all aspects of carrier administration and negotiations, facilitating open enrollment, and providing Benefits Navigator administration. You will need to have an intermediate level of confidence with MS Excel, including the ability to write formulas, analyze reports, and differentiate between quotes and estimates across various plans and carriers. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to interact confidently with both clients and carriers and present information effectively during client meetings.

This is a client-facing role that requires attendance at in-person meetings, so candidates must be within driving distance of either the Gig Harbor or Tacoma office. The position will be fully in-office during the initial 90-day training period to familiarize yourself with the systems, processes, and team dynamics. A hybrid schedule may be considered after the training period, depending on performance.

Manage a book of business that includes Fully Insured, Level Funded, and Self-Funded Groups ranging from 51 to 400 lives.

Administer and negotiate with carriers, ensuring optimal plan offerings for clients.

Facilitate open enrollment and provide administration for Benefits Navigator.

Attend client meetings in person, presenting plan options and discussing carrier offerings.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.

Collaborate with multiple producers, including the owner, Nancy, to support client needs and deliver exceptional service.

Full in-office presence required during the initial 90-day training period, with potential for a hybrid schedule afterward based on performance.

Qualifications

10+ years of independent agency experience specifically in group/employee benefits.

Strong proficiency in MS Excel, including the ability to write formulas and analyze data.

Extensive experience managing bundled and unbundled Self-Insured, Level Funded, and Fully Insured accounts from both the carrier and client side.

Confident in client-facing roles, with excellent presentation and communication skills.

In-depth knowledge of compliance regulations related to group benefits.

Must reside within driving distance to the Gig Harbor or Tacoma office and be comfortable attending in-person meetings.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Senior Benefits Account Manager to take on a key role within a respected independent agency. If you have the expertise and confidence to manage complex group benefits accounts and are comfortable working in a client-facing capacity, we encourage you to apply.
