Job Requirements:
U.S. citizen
Education: BSN or approved ADN
1 year of labor and delivery RN experience required
Active RN license
Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
Schedule : 40 hours a week, Monday through Sunday (8-12 hour variable/rotating shifts). Vacation schedule varies. Overtime subject to approval from supervisor.
Job Responsbilities:
Perform initial and ongoing assessments of laboring mothers, including monitoring vital signs, assessing fetal well-being, and evaluating progress of labor.
Provide physical and emotional support and education to laboring mothers, including coaching through breathing techniques, positioning, and pain management strategies.
Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions using electronic fetal monitoring equipment, recognizing signs of distress and notifying the appropriate healthcare provider.
Assist providers during labor and delivery procedures, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections
Administer medications as ordered by healthcare providers, including pain relief medications, oxytocin for labor augmentation, and medications to prevent postpartum hemorrhage.
Provide education to expectant mothers and their families regarding the labor and delivery process, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities to enhance patient outcomes and promote evidence-based practice in labor and delivery care.
