Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Sr. Manager, HR Relations (U.S.), the Manager, Leave Administration is responsible for the effective administration of the Company’s leave of absence and return to work/accommodation programs. The Manager, Leave Administration is a subject-matter expert who will work closely with management at all U.S.-based Family of Companies (FOCs) and the Sr. Manager, HR Relations (U.S.) to ensure compliance with federal, state & local leave of absence laws (e.g., FMLA, CFRA, PDL, USERRA, etc.) in addition to Reliance’s LOA policy.

Function in the Job:

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Job Function:

Provides all U.S.-based Reliance FOCs with assistance and guidance on all leave related issues

Interprets leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable laws

Supervises LOA Administrator(s)

Obtains and reviews updated medical certifications to determine eligibility; grants or denies leaves accordingly

Serves as the main point of contact for phone, emails, and mail communications with employees, management and local points of contact (LPOCs) for medium to high-complexity leaves and related processes

Primary point of contact for escalated leave issues

Reviews, updates and maintains all LOA policies to ensure legal compliance

Oversees integration of leaves (i.e., Workers’ Compensation with FMLA, CFRA with FMLA, etc.)

Counsels employees regarding pay, benefits, rights, responsibilities and other issues when being placed on or returning from a leave of absence

Reviews medical documentation of employees returning from a leave of absence and provides guidance and direction to local management on a return to work strategy; when appropriate, coordinates accommodations for those returning to work with restrictions

Reviews requests for ADA accommodation and leads interactive process with employee and local management to determine what (if any) accommodations may be needed

Maintains accurate records of employee leaves to ensure Reliance remains in full legal compliance

Coaches and mentors LOA Administrator(s)

Stays up-to-date with changes in laws at federal, state and local levels and works with senior management to revise leave programs and policies to ensure continued compliance

All other job-related duties and responsibilities assigned by management

Required Skills:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources Management or related field required

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in managing leaves of absence required, preferably in a multi-unit, multi-state organization

Prior experience in a union environment preferred

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local leave laws (e.g., FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, etc.) as well as company leave policies

Professional, articulate and able to exercise good independent judgment and discretion

Working knowledge of integration of leaves and benefits

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Proficiency with HRIS, payroll & timekeeping systems; Ceridian & Kronos preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

Ability to use discretion and handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately

Strong organizational skills and attention to details

Compensation Range:

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $90,000.00/Yr. - USD $(phone number removed)/Yr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
