Job Description Summary

The Area Dispatch Transportation Assistant coordinates and schedules resident medical appointment transportation for campuses in the area.  The overall goal of the position is to ensure residents arrive on time to medical appointments, efficiently managing all vehicles and available Transportation Associates in the Area.  In some cases, also operates the community vehicle to transport residents, in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our health campus.

Role and Responsibilities

Inputs Area appointment requests submitted via LEDs

Adjusts schedule as needed based on new and canceled appointment requests

Communicates schedule via email to Area LEDs and Area TAs via phone

Assigns TAs to transport residents for appointments (home campus and/or Area campus)

Maintains communication with Area LEDs and EDs as needed regarding TA time management and/or concerns

Communicates with EDs and DVP when needing to schedule outside transportation

Assists passengers in entering and exiting vehicle in accordance with all applicable regulations

Responds to resident requests for transportation by reporting requests to immediate supervisor

Submits month end data to LES and DVP, including but not limited to total number of appointments, total Area appointments, total hospital admission pick up and total discharge transports

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Preferred Skills

Ability to understand instructions and communicate with campus staff and resident families

Knowledge of the Area community, where doctor’s offices are in comparison to Area campuses

Familiarity with scheduling/ dispatching for multiple communities or drivers

Basic computer skills

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Five (5) years previous experience as a driver

Must have a valid driver’s license and a Motor Vehicle Record that is free of any major traffic violations for the past three years, and be able to operate a large van/ bus (up to 12 passengers)
