Overview:

This is a hybrid role based out of Malvern, PA (3 days in office)

CubeSmart seeks a Benefits Specialist with a passion for benefits and Customer service to join our Human Resources team.  This position, reporting to the Sr. Benefits Manager, will focus on benefit plan administration, design, cost analysis, compliance and communication development in order to maximize CubeSmart's benefit programs and processes as well as add value for our teammates.

CubeSmart is a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on the development, acquisition, disposition, and management of self-storage facilities.  CubeSmart is headquartered in Malvern, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia, and is one of the largest self-storage owners and operators in the United States, with more than 1500 locations nationwide.

Responsibilities:

Administer CubeSmart's health and welfare, 401(k) retirement, deferred compensation, and wellness programs

Support long term strategy to encourage consumerism and educate employees to spend healthcare dollars wisely

Support benefit renewal and planning by attending renewal meetings, preparing and analyzing reports, coordinating with benefits broker and vendors, and responding to requests for information.

Coordinate open enrollment activities including executing the communications plan, partnering with vendor to ensure benefits administration system is set up, and reporting on completion and final plan statistics.  

Oversee completion of required legal filings and tests, including 5500s, SARs, nondiscrimination testing, state/local reporting and other compliance regulations as assigned

Ensure compliance with Health Care Reform and other benefits related laws, including modeling and analysis, teammate communications and administration, and advise management of needed actions

Support the development and execution of all teammate benefit communications, including open enrollment materials, intranet postings, required annual notices, wellness initiatives, and educational pieces, ensuring all benefits are effectively communicated to teammates.

Encourage participation and educate teammates regarding innovative wellness programs. Analyze ROI regarding the programs and make recommendations for new programs that will more greatly benefit our teammates

Conduct periodic audits of benefit plans to confirm accuracy of data

Work collaboratively across other departments including Accounting and Payroll

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, management, or related field

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Employee Benefit Plan Administration

PHR, CCP, CCB or CEBS certification preferred

Solid understanding of benefit plan principles related to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, as well as 401k plan administration, healthcare reform, FMLA, HIPAA regulations, IRS rules and regulations, etc.

Strong knowledge and experience managing 401(k) and deferred compensation plans

Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Strong aptitude towards efficiency, quality, and consistency as well as a strong focus on customer service

Demonstrated track record of effective written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of human resources, employment law, benefits, compensation, and retirement planning

Ability to handle confidential information

Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking and decision making

Strong computer skills are required in MS Office particularly Excel, prior experience with HRIS systems

Ability to work with outside vendors (specifically insurance vendors/brokers, banks, and 401(k) administrators) and individuals in a professional, customer service-oriented manner
