Description:
SLC works on behalf of clients to support utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal power, and other power and infrastructure projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, social responsibility, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients.
This position will require you to perform civil engineering reviews and analyses in order to understand power projects and distill technical expertise into actionable information that project stakeholders rely on to prudently develop, design, construct, operate, and finance renewable energy projects being built in the United States and overseas. You will work with multi-discipline project teams to provide a variety of services, such as the following:
Perform civil engineering reviews, including storm water drainage, sanitary sewer systems, road design, and earthwork
Support preparation and review of site layout, grading, and preliminary drainage designs
Prepare technical specifications to define construction requirements
Advise power project developers to support new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects;
Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing
Develop technical reports for applicable audiences – including owners, developers, governmental agencies and committees, and financiers
Qualifications:

Essential skills and experience:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. A Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering or business (e.g., MBA) discipline is a plus.
8+ years of experience in design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, calculations, and models.
5+ years of experience in detailed design of site grading and drainage, storm sewer systems, road design, track design, and ponds
Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Civil Engineering specifications or calculations.
Ability to work in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Experience specific to wind turbine generation and/or solar PV design
Proficiency with civil engineering software programs such as Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, and Mircrostation or AutoCad.
Data analysis and visualization
Project finance or business acumen
Conceptual project design
Construction project management and/or scheduling software knowledge
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
Project planning, leadership, and organizational skills
