Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Environmental Project Manager for immediate employment in our Chicago, Illinois office. Imagine making a positive impact in your community while working on rewarding projects, such as environmental justice, remediation, or Brownfields projects.

As part of this hybrid (office and remote) role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience managing diverse teams, show regulatory and client engagement on complex sites, investigation/remediation project experience, and require a strong focus on health and safety, be detailed orientated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team.

In this role, you will also be responsible for supporting business development for the Chicago office as well as managing AECOM staff and subcontractors, technical delivery, stakeholder engagement and communication, and financial management.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

Project Management:

Responsible for the overall management of projects and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies.

Understand site investigation and remediation techniques to drive solutions for our clients.

Interacts with existing and potential clients to discuss AECOM service capabilities and expand services provided.

Oversees and ensures all facets of a project portfolio are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.

Provide technical oversight and quality control.

Determine and define project scope and objectives.

Supervise the management of all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).

Predict resource needs and manage resources effectively.

Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.

Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.

Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks.

Manage more complex clients and projects.

Consistently deliver profit margins as planned.

People Leadership

Experience leading teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies in support of multi-sector environmental projects.

Supervise the performance of senior level engineers, geologists, and scientists, as well as project managers with multiple projects.

Collaborate with project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating, billing, accounting, finance, and procurement representatives.

Provide mentorship to staff regarding means for expanding service opportunities for both existing and new clients. 

Provides management and guidance to local AECOM environment staff, promotes company and project policies, and a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.
