Job Description

AbbVie Product Development Science & Technology is seeking an Associate Scientist level Process Chemist to conduct late-stage chemical process development, supporting projects from registration through commercialization and throughout the product lifecycle.  The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated scientist, with a proven track record of accomplishment in the field of organic synthesis, to work in a multi-functional team environment.

The candidate will be responsible for developing organic chemistry processes and executing on scale to provide practical access to potential therapies.

The position involves multi-disciplinary interactions with organic chemists, analytical chemists, engineers, and solid-state scientists. 

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine tasks competently and independently, and generate reliable and consistent data.

Analyze and critique data, noting significant deviations.

Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation.

Learn and understand new experimental techniques.

Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.

Demonstrate technical proficiency in field of expertise (Organic Chemistry).

Impact projects predominantly through lab and/or pilot-plant or manufacturing scale activities.

Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
