I. Purpose of the Job:

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Senior Staff Accountant and is responsible for supporting the grant processing operations of the Center.

II. Functions and Responsibilities:

Ensure timely review and submission of grant and internship reimbursement requests.

Maintain datasets related to program awardees and participants.

Possess strong analytical, communication, time management, and attention to detail skills.

Specific tasks include organizing, assembling, proofing, and processing reimbursement requests, maintaining Excel spreadsheets, and communicating with program participants.

Assist with weekly processing of Accounts Payable when needed.

Support the Finance team during fiscal year-end close process and audit.

Participate in special projects as assigned.

No supervisory responsibilities for this position.

IV. Knowledge and Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and quantitative skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Team and independent work capability.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

Initiative in completing assignments within deadlines.

Knowledge or familiarity with NetSuite and SmartSimple software is desirable but not required.

V. Extent of Public Contact:

Minimal in-person contact with external stakeholders, but regular contact with internal staff and external stakeholders through email, phone, and virtual meetings.

VI. Working Conditions and Environment:

Work performed in both office and remote settings.

In-person work in Waltham, Massachusetts on Wednesdays and Thursdays, remote work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Regular work schedule of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Occasional adjustments to schedule and overtime may be required.
