ESOL and EAL Tutor for Asylum seeking children-nationwide

Remedy Tutors are seeking an ESOL and EAL tutor to provide education to migrant students who have come into the UK under difficult and tumultuous circumstances, seeking asylum from war-torn countries and to escape terrifying political conflict. These children have entered the UK, separated from their families and friends and are currently experiencing some form of PTSD, high levels of anxiety and uncertainty- hence the need for an experienced tutor that have a good understanding and experience of working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.

You would be tutoring migrant children of school age ranging from 4 to 21 years of age, with varying levels of English language ability.

Tutoring would take place in the student's home, school or a local library. Occasionally, and not in all cases, this could take place online.

You would be expected to assess, plan and implement a tailored programme of study, closely linked to an ESOL / EAL Scheme of work and produce weekly reports commenting on progress.

Ideally the successful applicant will have:

An enhanced DBS certificate, ideally on the update service
A UK recognised ESOL or EAL teaching qualification
at least 2 years' teaching or tutoring (ideally in UK)
Experience teaching unaccompanied asylum seeking children that have entered the country or left their own countries under duress
Good communication skills, an understanding of the client group with a calm, patient disposition
Working knowledge of the ESOL or EAL SoW and curriculum
Previous experience and success in a similar role would be beneficial
the ability to speak additional languages is beneficial
a right to work in the UKWe pay competitive rates , and the hours are flexible with both part-time and full time hours available.
