Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for experienced Family Support Workers to work with a Nottingham-based Local Authority on temporary assignments which are initially three months in duration. There are 2x full-time roles available (37 hours per week, Mon – Fri with occasional requirement for out-of-hours work) based within the Nottingham area.

Main Duties:

* To work within an integrated framework to support vulnerable children, young people and families to improve their social, physical and emotional wellbeing, and to take responsibility for direct and therapeutic interventions.

* To support parents and carers in overcoming barriers to help them meet the needs of their children.

* To deliver and co-facilitate a range of evidenced based programmes and group work in partnership with internal and external colleagues in order to support parents and carers.

* To engage with children, young people, and families, using a holistic approach to include them in planning, decision making and goal setting.

* To empower children, young people and families to contribute to the development of the service through evaluation, consultation, and feedback of services provided.

* To take reasonable care for own health and safety and that of other people, ensuring the implementation of appropriate procedures and practice in line with current Health & Safety legislation.

* To case hold work with children, young people and families with extensive needs to prevent social care intervention, in line with current and relevant policies and procedures.

* To act as a Lead Professional where appropriate within the relevant assessment framework. To co-ordinate and chair multi-agency forums as necessary.

* To identify risk(s) and seek advice and guidance from the relevant supervisor in a timely manner.

* To use assessment and analytical skills to identify appropriate support packages for children, young people and families.

* To update and maintain appropriate databases and case files, to record work, write high quality reports and correspondence in agreed timescales, in line with the recording policy.

* To understand and be committed to working in partnership with other agencies that provide universal, targeted and specialist services, to address the needs of children, young people, and their families.

Essential Criteria:

* A minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or similar subject.

* UK Driver’s license with access to own vehicle.

* Sound knowledge of safeguarding issues and experience of applying legislation and policy and procedure to practice, including the relevant assessment framework and integrated working.

* Experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and adults, from a variety of backgrounds, in an outcome-focused way.

* Knowledge and understanding of multi-agency & partnership working and the variety of services available to families.

* Experience of effectively using a range of preventative and early intervention theories and models when working with children & families to prevent the need for specialist services.
