Job Title: Graduate / Junior Design Manager (Structural, Electrical and Civils/Maritime disciplines available)
Location: Portsmouth (HM Naval Base)
Service Area: Asset Management
Hours of Work: 37 Per week
What You’ll be doing:
As an integral part of the Design Management team, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of projects from inception to completion through the development of the RIBA design stages. With the provision of providing effective design solutions through the interpretation of design briefs, you’ll also be responsible for providing discipline expertise to designs across asset streams.
A part of our existing delivery teams (Structural, Electrical and Civils/Maritime disciplines available) that reports to the Principal Design Manager, you’ll be working collaboratively with multi-discipline engineering teams. In alignment, you’ll also be responsible for effectively delivering and managing design solutions for small/medium in size and complexity projects, from inception to in-service.
Supporting and advising the client regarding design elements, you’ll ensure that all work carried out is in accordance with the processes and procedures in the KBS Joint Management System.
You’ll Have:
A professional working interest in either Structural, Electrical or Civils disciplines. With understanding and adequate knowledge of the full engineering lifecycle from inception to in-service, you’ll have working knowledge of building regulations and British standards for civil works, and relevant regulations including PUWER, LOLER, CDM Regulations and temporary works .
Additionally, your ability to work directly with the client with minimum supervision will provide a positive link to the wider design management remit, as well as being considered a logical thinker that is able to identify risks at early stages to be able to raise early for mitigation.
About you:
Essentially, you’ll have a Degree / HND or equivalent of BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering or sub-disciplines, coupled with fluency use of IT systems. Also, you’ll be working towards a professional recognition through a relevant scientific association.
As a strong communicator, you’ll have the ability to influence, showcasing negotiation skill and ability. With evidence of previous development towards building good working relationships, you’ll also be able to display excellent organisational skills, presentation competencies and values in line with the business.
