I am currently recruiting on behalf of a reputable housing developer based in Hampshire. They have an excellent reputation in terms of build quality and they take absolute pride in ensuring they deliver the best product and service. They have many new sites starting this year and in 2024/2025. They now require a buyer to join the team on a permanent basis to help with the upcoming demand as they grow.

You will be employed as a buyer and package is negotiable DOE between £40k-£50k p/a. There is no flexi working available, so office based 5 days a week with the hours 8.30am-5pm each day. You will join a team of 2 other buyers already in the business to help with work and demand. Your day to day duties will include: provide pricing on all materials, identifying potential suppliers, obtain quotations, agreeing delivery times, assessing reliability of suppliers and sub-contractors, keeping in line with compliance and health and safety, preparing and maintaining cost reports, negotiating and agreeing terms, finding cost effective ways, keeping to deadlines and budgets and maximise efficiency within the business.

You must have strong communication skills, be highly organised, reliable, professional and must have prior experience within buying, ideally wiith 2-3 years experience min. This could be from within housing sector of construction or a building merchants background. They need somebody proactive, who can hit the ground running, be ready to learn from others and support the team where needed. You must have a sound knowledge of construction materials and obtain analytical thinking skills, negotiation skills and overall budgeting abilities.
