This is a unique Pipe Fitter role within EDF’s Fleet Turbine & Maintenance Group where delivering safe, reliable power is at the heart of our Generation Business. Your base location will be at Heysham 2 Power Station, however FT&MG support the UK wide fleet, as such travel to other locations may at times be required.

The Fleet Turbine & Maintenance Group carries out the maintenance of Steam Turbines, Generators, Auxiliary and associated plant at various EDF Sites. The successful applicant will support the Operations Department reporting to the Operations Team Leader, whilst also working closely with Engineering. Your responsibilities as a Pipe Fitter within the Fleet Turbine & Maintenance Group will be to support the fleet’s turbine, generator, and auxiliary assets.

Remuneration: In line with NAECI Grade 5

What you’ll be doing

As a Pipe Fitter supporting EDF’s Fleet Turbine & Maintenance Group you’ll be:

* Completing maintenance records in a timely manner supporting the delivery of the work week plans, outage plans and delivery of the FT&M business plan.

* Support the effective delivery of KPI's continuously trying to improve & learn from the previous completed task.

* To report safety, environmental and plant issues in a timely manner via the correct tools and actively acknowledge errors, seeking help when needed. Assuming responsibility for your decisions and actions.

* Work as part of a team to drive performance improvement to industry best practice standards.

* Your personal performance will maintain & reinforce high standards of nuclear professionalism. Actively participating in; Setting to work, pre job briefs & applying Human Performance tools.

* Industrial Safety practices, including area risk assessments.

* Ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory
regulations company & local directions, procedures & safety rules.

* Fabrication of pipe work in carbon and stainless steel, setting up for welder to the required standard.

* Install and secure piping according to strict specifications including small bore Swagelok and Walform.

* Removal and replacing of hydraulic systems / couplings for high pressure.

* Assisting Operation team with other tasks during down time of pipe fitting.

There is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to join the Forward Deployment Service, which forms part of the EDF Emergency arrangements.

Who you are:

As a minimum, entrants will have full apprenticeship in relevant or related trade and/or a vocational qualification at L3 (NVQ/QCF/RQF) from a recognised awarding body (ECITB/EAL) and 2 years+ experience post apprenticeship.

Some training will be provided for Swagelok and Walform if required.
