White Label is representing an engineering business in Wakefield that require a Graduate Designer Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will ideally possess an HNC (Higher National Certificate) or similar in Mechanical Engineering.

My client is offering a salary of circa £27,000, 22 days holiday + bank holidays and pension.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am-4:30pm and Friday 8am – 3:30pm.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer

Design and Development:

Develop and design innovative mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA).

Create detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings for acoustic enclosures and models based on specifications and requirements.

Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Prototyping and Testing:

Develop prototypes of designed components and systems.

Conduct tests and simulations to validate designs and identify potential improvements.

Analyse test results and iterate on designs to enhance performance and reliability.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.

Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Prepare and present design proposals, progress reports, and technical documentation to stakeholders.

Project Management:

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.

Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components.

Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.

Implement feedback and lessons learned from previous projects to enhance future designs.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field would be preferred.

Experience:

Educated to HNC or similar in Mechanical Engineering

Experience using a CAD software

Skills:

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Certifications:

Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, Certified SolidWorks Professional) are a plus.
