Topline Systems is a small IT services company based in south Birmingham, established in 1991. We provide a range of services from general hardware and software support to telecoms and internet services.
We are seeking a friendly self-motivated individual to join our team to provide efficient and effective technical support to our customers. You must already have experience with and general understanding of; Microsoft Operating Systems and Office applications. It would be ideal to have some relevant training or academic background in IT. Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers in a similar environment is beneficial but not essential. Being able to work on your own initiative, such as researching and solving problems is important. You must also be able to work as part of a team, and confident to discuss ideas and seek assistance where you need it to ensure the highest level of support is promptly provided to our customers.
We thrive from having a close relationship with our customers to provide the highest level of service possible. As such, it is essential you have excellent written and verbal communication skills as you will be dealing with customers on a daily basis.
You will be providing support to a wide variety of environments and industries including small businesses, charities, educational and manufacturing to name a few. The individuals you will be providing support to within those organisations could be from any level of seniority and have a diverse range of IT capabilities. You need to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals at all skill levels and seniority.
Typical tasks will include:
* Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
* Dealing with technical presales queries
* Provide assistance to customers via email, phone, remote support software or face to face
* Supporting and maintaining Microsoft software such as Windows, Office and Server products
* Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure
* Physical Installation of computer systems and other equipment
* Service and repair computer systems and related equipment in our workshop
* Basic network troubleshooting in wired and wireless networks
* Provide assistance to other engineers
* Promptly and accurately updating our service administration system
* Reporting changes or making updates to documentation yourself
* Strict adherence to policies including confidentiality of data
We are aware that some of the most gifted technical individuals may not have the qualifications or experience due to lack of opportunities or change of career path. Maybe you have a passion for technology and appreciate how rewarding this area of work can be but a relevant academic path was not an option for you. The role is a mixture of desk based support and on-site hands on work such as PC installation. At times this can be physically challenging, you must be confident and comfortable moving various equipment, whilst adhering to general health and safety guidelines.
At interview you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of and practical ability relating to computer configuration on Microsoft based systems and network systems.
You must have a full driving licence and car which you are able to use for work purposes and be based within an easy commuting distance of our office in South Birmingham. Mileage allowance paid in addition to salary.
Employment will be subject to initial trial period and conditional on the satisfactory outcome of references and any other background checks that may be appropriate for the role. Pension contribution paid in addition to advertised salary.
