Summary: The Preschool Teacher Assistant will support the lead teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool-aged children. This role requires an individual who is passionate about early childhood education and has the ability to foster a positive learning environment that encourages exploration and growth. (This is a 10-month position).

Responsibilities: (This list is not exhaustive, additional duties will be reviewed during orientation)

Assist the lead teacher in organizing and conducting daily classroom activities in accordance with curriculum goals.

Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.

Support the development of positive relationships with children, fostering their emotional, social, and intellectual development.

Observe and document children's progress, providing the lead teacher with feedback on individual learning and behavior.

Engage children in meaningful play and learning activities that encourage curiosity and exploration.

Supervise children during playtime, transitions, and classroom activities, ensuring safety and compliance with school policies.

Assist in preparing classroom materials and supplies for activities.

Participate in family engagement activities, communicating effectively with parents and guardians.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops as required.

Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned by the lead teacher or center administration.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma required with Child Development Associate Credential or Paraprofessional Credential; Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or preferred.

Bi-lingual (Spanish, Yoruba, Igbo) preferred.

A minimum of three years of experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting.

Understanding of early childhood development principles and practices.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.

Demonstrated ability to engage children and facilitate learning through play.

Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in supporting children's growth and development.

Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
