Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities (LD) and/or autism. While being a Sensory Integration Level 2 practitioner is preferred, it is not essential. This role involves providing specialist assessment, intervention, and management to support individuals' functional abilities and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the functional abilities and needs of individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.

* Intervention Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practices.

* Sensory Integration: Utilise sensory integration techniques where applicable, especially for those with sensory processing challenges.

* Therapeutic Interventions: Provide a range of therapeutic interventions to enhance daily living skills, social participation, and overall well-being.

* Family and Caregiver Support: Work closely with families and caregivers, providing education, support, and strategies to facilitate care and enhance the individual's quality of life.

* Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, speech and language therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to deliver integrated care.

* Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and outcomes.

* Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development, staying current with advancements in occupational therapy, particularly in the areas of learning disabilities, autism, and sensory integration.

* Caseload Management: Manage a defined caseload independently, ensuring effective prioritization and time management.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.

* Registration: Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

* Experience: Significant experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.

* Competencies: Strong skills in assessment, intervention, and management of individuals with complex needs. Proficiency in sensory integration techniques is an advantage.

* Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

* Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing environments and work effectively under pressure.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

* Sensory Integration Level 2: Certification as a Sensory Integration Level 2 practitioner is preferred but not essential.

* Advanced Practice: Further training or certifications in areas related to learning disabilities, autism, or sensory integration.

* Leadership Skills: Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff and contributing to team development.
