Operational Resilience Manager required for a market-leading FinTech. The role will be focused on supporting the Head of Operational Risk to implement and maintain an effective operational resilience framework. You will provide advice and assurance to ensure the organisation develops and progresses its approach to operational resilience in line with current UK regulatory requirements. You will also act as the Operational Resilience SME.

Overview of objectives you will be supporting:

  • Develop and implement the operational resilience framework, policies, and strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the relevant business areas.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to conduct risk assessments, business impact analysis, and scenario planning to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to critical business areas.
  • Design and conduct testing, training, and simulation exercises to validate the effectiveness of continuity plans and enhance organisational readiness
  • Monitor emerging risks and industry trends, adapting resilience strategies to evolving threats and business needs
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on the status of operational resilience project
  • Lead and coordinate response efforts during crises, guiding teams through recovery processes and ensuring minimal disruptions to business operations
  • Work with the Supplier Manager to:
    • Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of existing resilience plans and processes, making recommendations for improvements
    • Review and update business continuity plans to incorporate resilience plans incorporating lessons learned from incidents and industry developments
    • Serve as liaison with external partners, vendors, and relevant stakeholders as required, to align continuity efforts and maintain external dependencies
  • Escalate any areas of concern to the Head of Operational Risk.
  • This role is considered a Conduct Rules role under the SMCR regime. You must comply with all relevant regulatory responsibilities assigned to the role.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • A thorough understanding, and demonstrable experience in operational resilience within the financial services industry.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to operational resilience and continuity planning
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, eg Financial Conduct Authority or similar role
  • An understanding of the regulatory environment applicable to a UK defined benefit pension scheme would be advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proficiency in relevant tools and technologies used for risk assessment, resilience, and continuity planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pro-active, can-do and inquisitive approach to current and potential business activities.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, lateral thinking and flexibility.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
