ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant HR Manager will manage key employee programs and operational functions that support an employees’ positive employee experience. In this role, you’ll focus on Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Onboarding, Offboarding, Employee Relations, and Office Culture & Events, among other ad hoc projects. Across all areas, you will follow and improve standards + processes to ensure all HR systems are running smoothly. You are known for your attention to detail, and you’re passionate about employee care, checklists, and process improvement. You’ll report to the Senior HR Manager, and will collaborate regularly with candidates, vendors, freelancers, people managers, and all Farmacy employees (including US + Canada team members, across office, warehouse, and field sales environments). 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Onboarding & Offboarding. Manage processes and systems that support key employee programs and initiatives during Onboarding and Offboarding. 

Payroll. Lead bi-weekly payroll for both US and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Respond to various state, federal, and internal data requests regarding payroll history and compliance. 

Benefits. Oversee all employee benefit programs that support Farmacy’s culture and focus on employee wellbeing. Complete benchmarking, research, proposals, and implementation for any new or changing benefits.  

Recruiting. Lead end-to-end recruiting: sourcing candidates, culling applications, scheduling interviews, and partnering with hiring managers. You’ll be the owner and maintainer of our Applicant Tracking System, our company LinkedIn page, and any internal recruiting trackers. 

Employee Relations. Work with employees and managers to address various policy questions + employee relations topics that touch various HR systems, including leaves of absence and freelance/consultant management. 

Process Improvements. Bring fresh ideas to further optimize employee experience and company cost + effort for HR systems.  

Office Culture & Events. In partnership with Executive Assistant & Office Manager, support the execution of office events that boost morale + drive our culture. 

HR Team Collaboration. Partner with Senior HR Manager and SVP of HR on various projects and tasks as needed.

Requirements

3+ years relevant HR Generalist experience, ideally in Beauty or Consumer Goods and in progressive, modern work environments.

Retail industry experience is a plus (either direct personal experience or in supporting employee populations in a retail environment)

Experience with payroll, benefits, and recruiting systems; experience with ADP and/or Workable is a plus.

Strong computer skills (especially Excel); able to leverage technology to do things faster/better. 

Beauty industry (and/or passion) is a plus.

Professional maturity + discretion, able to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner.

Great people skills; able to connect with employees at all levels. 

Exceptional written + verbal communication skills. Written skills include the use of data to communicate the status of projects or issues. 

Function well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Bachelor’s Degree a plus, but not required. 

Able to commute to the NYC office minimum 2 days per week.

Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship from employer. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 per year

10 days PTO + 5 sick/personal days per year
