About the role

Our client’s commercial team in London team focusses on delivering projects in the UK and overseas for Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). They also provide Cost Management Framework services to the Environment Agency (EA) and Parliamentary Estates for secured long term strategic management of major reactive and planned Capital Works programmes.

You will have the opportunity to become a key member of the Southern region cost management team, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams across various offices, forging strong working relationships internally and externally, becoming a trusted commercial advisor.

Key responsibilities will typically include:

Conduct option feasibility studies and development appraisals to inform the decision-making processes of the client.
Provide procurement services and expert advice to optimise project outcomes.
Implement whole life and life cycle costing methodologies to ensure cost-effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop and maintain comprehensive cost plans aligned with project objectives.
Conduct benchmarking and auditing activities to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
Act as an Employers Agent, representing the client's interests and overseeing project execution.
Administer contracts and provide contract management support.
Implement robust cost control and change management procedures.
Monitor project progress and performance against established metrics.
Develop contract selection strategies tailored to project requirements.
Utilise value management and engineering techniques to enhance project outcomes.
Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project delivery.

About you

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification
Pre and post contract cost management experience, including setting budgets, managing change, assessing risk and opportunity and procurement.
Experience of working as a Employers Agent, Project Monitoring Role would be beneficial.
Experience of working with NEC, JCT and bespoke forms of D&B Contracts.
Infrastructure and residential sector experience is preferable, but not essential as we are looking for experience across all sectors
Sound IT skills, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
