Our client, a prestigious mail order and online retailer known for its unique blend of tradition and innovation, is looking for a Buying Assistant in Homewares. This is a rare opportunity to dive into the heart of the homewares industry, contributing to the design and selection of products that adorn homes across the UK and Europe.
Whether you're looking to step into your first Buying role or are a Buying Assistant ready to expand your expertise and autonomy, this role offers the perfect blend of support and independence to cultivate your career.
Due to the rural location in Oxfordshire, a driving licence and vehicle are required to be considered for this position.
In the role of Homewares Buying Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:
Supporting the Senior Homewares Buyer with daily administrative tasks and activities
Ordering, logging & returning samples from suppliers
Writing engaging and well-crafted product descriptions
Accurately recording information on spreadsheets and managing paperwork relating to products selected for catalogues
Resolving warehouse or customer queries regarding quality issues or additional information
To be considered for the role of a Buying Assistant, you must have the following skills and experience:
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)
Office-based administrative experience
A confident and articulate phone manner
Strong communication skills
Strong attention to detail
A full driving licence and own car
The Role:
Reporting to the Senior Homewares Buyer, the Buying Assistant will be responsible for helping to deliver a range of homewares. From domestic textiles to hard goods and toiletries, you’ll be responsible for ensuring a diverse product range, tailored to our client’s customer base, managing the critical path from concept to product launch. You will have strong communication skills and be confident liaising with overseas suppliers to help ensure production and delivery deadlines are met on time and within budget. You will need a creative nature with a keen eye for detail when it comes to writing product descriptions and be computer literate for uploading to the website. Your personal and professional development will be championed, with the opportunity to grow and manage a larger area independently over time.
