DESIGN COORDINATOR – Architectural Metalwork/Steelwork

This thriving and well-established business is looking to capitalise on its continued reputation and growth by adding a Design Coordinator to join their busy Leicester based team. The role will predominantly be office based with 1-2 days per week based on UK customer sites (overnights stays rarely required)

Reporting to the Design Manager the Design Coordinator will be responsible for and lead the internal design process from pre-construction stage through to final completion on projects allocated. You will have a high standard of communication in the English language, both spoken and written, at all levels, as a great deal of liaison will be required with both internal and external stakeholders including attending meetings via teams and face to face on site.

The successful Candidate must have experience in co-ordinating the design and detailing process within design teams, both internal and external ( sub-contract drawing offices). In return for working a Mon-Fri 42.5 hour week you will receive an attractive salary of £45-£50k + Van (personal use) + Fuel Card + pension + 20 Hols + Stats + a fantastic working environment.

Job Description
Key responsibilities:

* Liaise with internal stakeholders, Main Contractors, Architects & Structural Engineers.

* Prepare, submit and record TQ's / RFI's to Client, Engineer & Architect for any drawing related queries and co-ordinate the detailing.

* Ensure timely release of design information in accordance with agreed programme dates.

* Distribute design packages to in-house and sub-contract detailers and monitor progress.

* Manage the flow of information between relevant parties to ensure the correct and timely issue of drawing packages is achieved.

* Attend Design Team Meetings.

* Collaborating with the Commercial, Fabrication and construction departments to develop and agree best practices on individual projects to achieve project goals.

* Provide drawing office support to fabricators and site installation teams.

* Assist Design Manager to ensure design and drawing standards are maintained.

* Ensuring compliance to client specifications and building regulations, ISO 9001, BS EN 1090, Eurocodes and other BS’s as applicable.

* Manage the production and issue of fabrication / site packages to the relevant teams.

* Building and maintaining strong relationships clients and project teams, ensuring all interactions with customers demonstrate our culture of quality, professionalism and fairness.

Essential Skills/Qualifications

* Extensive experience of steelwork / metalwork design within the UK steel fabrication / construction industry.

* Extensive drawing office experience with ability to use 2D / 3D cad systems to produce details.

* Concise communication across all levels.

* The ability to problem solve with a dynamic and pragmatic approach to issues.

* Must be able to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
