Medical Welfare Officer with Learning Support Assistant

Are you passionate about student welfare and wellbeing?

Do you have experience in supporting students' medical needs while also offering academic support in a secondary school setting?

LTF Recruitment is working in partnership with a fantastic secondary school in Waltham Forest, seeking a Medical Welfare Officer who can also provide Learning Support Assistant (LSA) duties. This unique and rewarding role involves ensuring the health and welfare of students while supporting their academic progress within Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the Medical Welfare Officer, providing first aid, administering medication, and monitoring the health and wellbeing of students
Maintain accurate records of student medical conditions, treatments, and support plans
Liaise with parents, carers, and medical professionals to ensure students receive appropriate care
Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities in the classroom, working alongside teachers to assist with their academic development
Provide Learning Support Assistant (LSA) duties, including 1:1 and small group support for students in KS3 and KS4
Promote a safe and inclusive environment, addressing both physical and emotional needsEssential Criteria:

First Aid qualification or willingness to complete one
Previous experience in a medical welfare or student care role within a secondary school or similar environment
Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN
Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information professionally
A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to student care and academic support
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamDesirable Criteria:

Experience as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or working in an educational setting
Knowledge of SEN and experience supporting students academically, particularly in KS3 and KS4
Additional Information:
Full-time, Monday to Friday
Paid £100 to £120 per day, term time only
Based in Waltham Forest, London - excellent transport links
