Solution Architect
We need profile of Solution Architect with Infrastructure background - both DC and Cloud, who understand how to build resilience systems (HA, DR, horizontal scalable system), covering Servers, VMs and microservices/Kubernetes/containers, in context of application, ability to consider application capability while designing resilient and DR systems/solutions.
The Solution Architect will:
Assist in application discovery and selection
Identify the resilience requirements per application identified by the project
Determine what our remediation options are to meet the requirements
Confirm what changes can be made to improve resilience and DR
Create a High-Level Design (HLD) to determine the preferred solution for each of the systems, detailing the new resilience and/or disaster recovery function
Take the HLDs through Defra architectural governance processes
Present to the Technical Design Authority
Provide technical advice and assistance to the project team regarding the systems
Work with Defra's Resilience and DR teams to ensure the solution meets standard requirements
Work with suppliers to ensure that the approved solution is built and implemented correctly.
Provide Subject Matter Expert input into the definition of procurements, engagement with suppliers
Act as a facilitator for solution integration between the Authority and the supplier.
Provide assurance for the supplier's transition approach.
Provide technical input and validation of migration activities.
Key Skills
Solutions architect - ability to understand systems and create working solutions based on the systems and options available.
Ability to work unaided and create High Level Designs
Ability to present same to Technical governance boards at Defra
Facilitator: Act as the main point of contact between the Authority and the supplier,
Technical Reviewer: Review and provide feedback on HLDs, test plans, and implementation plans.
Technical Support: Provide technical assistance during service migration, assisting in resolution of any issues that arise.
