SEN Teaching Assistant (Severe and Complex Learning Disabilities)

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting pupils aged 4-19 with severe and complex learning disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), working in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to students with complex learning needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop essential life skills.
Assist in the use of hoisting and other mobility aids to support pupils with physical needs.
Participate in feeding, personal care, and hygiene routines for students requiring additional assistance.
Implement and support individualised education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the teaching staff and other specialists.
Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes student well-being, safety, and emotional development.
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to learning.Essential Skills and Experience:

Experience working with children and young people who have severe and complex learning disabilities, including PMLD.
Familiarity with hoisting techniques and equipment, or a willingness to undergo training.
Ability to provide personal care (feeding, toileting, changing) with dignity and respect for the students' needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils' physical and emotional needs.Desirable Qualifications:

Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
Experience working within a SEN or PMLD setting.
Knowledge of sensory or communication support strategies such as Makaton or PECS is advantageous.Why Join Us?
