Are you a seasoned commercial leader with a passion for delivering successful projects in the nuclear industry?

Great British Nuclear (GBN), a new government body leading the charge in delivering secure and sustainable nuclear energy for Britain, is seeking a skilled Deputy Commercial Director to join our team.

In this critical role, you will provide strategic commercial leadership and support to the Commercial Director, ensuring the effective management of contracts and procurement activities across GBN's projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Possess a deep understanding of commercial principles, contract law, procurement strategies, and negotiation tactics within the nuclear industry.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of nuclear industry regulations, safety standards, and the importance of compliance and risk mitigation.
Experience in managing complex budgets, financial analysis, and cost control strategies within high-stakes, capital-intensive projects.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and collaborative tools used within the nuclear industry.
Support the Commercial Director in developing and implementing the organisation's commercial strategy.
Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, providing guidance and setting performance expectations.
Oversee procurement strategy, business case preparation, contract negotiation, and strategic procurement for a portfolio of projects.
Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the commercial viability of projects.
Conduct risk assessments, identify potential contractual disputes or liabilities, and develop mitigation strategies.
Assume ownership of the financial performance, profitability, and risk management of assigned commercial projects or business units.
Prepare and present comprehensive commercial reports to senior management.
Represent the organisation in high-level commercial negotiations with clients, partners, and suppliers.
Actively participate in the development and implementation of commercial policies, procedures, and best practices.To be successful, you'll possess:

A proven track record of successfully negotiating and managing high-value contracts within large-scale construction or engineering projects.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to build relationships across the organisation and negotiate effectively.
Proven experience in commercial management roles within the nuclear industry or a similarly complex and regulated sector.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Law, or a related field. Master's degree is desirable. If a Bachelor's degree is not in one of the aforementioned subjects, other relevant professional qualifications are required.
