Senior Test Automation Engineer - DevOps

Up to £60k + £5k car, 10% bonus| Full-time, permanent | Reading

My client, a leading global consultancy, is growing the capabilities of their UK Public Sector Centre of Excellence to work with clients on the digital transformation journey and provide a one stop shop for both Legacy and modern application development, support and maintenance.

The Senior Test Automation Engineer will be a part of a multiple disciplinary team ensuring the accelerated establishment of a DevOps culture and capabilities across clients and support current application delivery and management.

You'll work alongside DevOps engineers, cloud engineers and developers with clients to understand their requirements, propose solutions and implementation. Ensuring aligned with the standards and polices of the CoE.

The CoE is one of the fundamental ways my client is looking to further grow UK business so it's an exciting time to join a mission-critical team.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the wider team to contribute to the relevant testing requirements to support various teams in meeting their outcomes.
  • You will work to understand clients quality assurance requirements.
  • you'll be able to demonstrate the appropriate testing technologies and frameworks to customers and teams to engage them in new frameworks and automation tools.
  • Support the writing and/or providing input to bid proposals to include quality assurance that will make our teams and customers successful.
  • Able to put delivery timescales implementation and cost estimates together based on proposed quality assurance and risks.
  • Implementing test strategy, practices, tools and process that enable teams to automate as much functional testing as possible to achieve rapid change.
  • Adhere to polices and standards for the CoE.
  • Participates within the wider Atos testing communities, engaging locally and globally
  • Communicating expertly and work together within a multi-disciplinary team, fostering the open and collaborative culture.
  • Presenting and depicting the rationale of findings in simple, engaging and easy to understand business terms to a diverse group of partners

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • You will have experience working as a Test Automation Engineer.
  • Strong experience working in a DevOps/Agile development environment and practical experience with BDD and TDD, focusing on web service/API testing.
  • Experience in Java, Selenium Web Driver, Cucumber, Jbehave and preferably Serenity, using a CI tool like Jenkins to trigger execution of test scripts.
  • Use of either Jasmine, Mocha or similar framework.
  • Strong experience of interpreting testing requirements using a variety of artefacts, including stories and wireframes.
  • Ability to communicate and influence senior individuals on the topic of Quality Assurance.
  • Demonstrate evidence of where you have taken the lead in process improvement against existing automation procedures and systems.
  • Experience with Linux administration skills are also important to have.
  • Able to undertake and successfully gain SC level security clearance checks (UK resident for a minimum of 5 years with no breaks of longer than 6 months)
  • Willing to travel to company and client sites UK wide

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Maven and Gradle.
  • Automated test data creation.
  • Experience with performance and load testing.
  • ISEB/ISTQB Qualifications
  • Experience of multiple Cloud platforms
