Experienced Junior Manufacturing Engineer to help oversee current manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to identify and implement cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and automation solutions that enhance factory capabilities and capacity.

The product line-up of specialist machinery vehicles is designed to replace all methods of access including scaffolding, ladders, step-ups, and podiums. Our Client provides simple, innovative solutions so that operators can work safely, comfortably, and efficiently. Their products are simple, secure, and easy to use. The ergonomic design of the access platform allows the user to reach the desired working height safely, while keeping both feet at the same level and both hands free.

Junior Manufacturing Engineer Role:

• Optimise workflow, equipment placement, and space utilisation.
• Analyse production data and provide reports to assist management in decision-making.
• Maintain and improve Manufacturing Execution system (MES).
• Evaluate quality control processes and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company requirements.
• Coordinate and manage manufacturing line updates.
• Exploring and implementing new ways to automate existing production lines.
• Conduct research, development, and deployment of manufacturing automation technology into global manufacturing facilities.
• Support digital manufacturing initiatives by leading proof of concept (POC) studies and scale them to production levels.
• Support the development, implementation, and operation of Industry 4.0 and IIoT initiatives.
• Collaborate with other manufacturing departments such as quality, materials, EHS, and facilities to provide innovative solutions.
• Apply project management skills (schedule, cost, communications) and coordination of internal and external resources to execute projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Solid understanding of data connectivity, within the manufacturing environment.
• Designing and testing automation equipment and processes.

Junior Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:

Essential:
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science or similar field.
• 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing engineering.
• Experience of industrial automation, controls, manufacturing engineering or related role.
• Some time spent in a design/DFM role.
• Lean Practitioner and/or 6 Sigma Black Belt.

Beneficial:
• Experience with Factory 4.0 and IIOT applications and integration of AI systems through PLC’s.
• Self-starter.
• Strong problem-solving and self-starter skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Creative thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Understanding and functional knowledge of PLC’s, low voltage controls, vision systems, electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics.
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems in automated equipment.
• Ability to communicate well with other members of the development team.
• Ability to keep up with the latest technologies.
• A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge.
