Zigbee Engineer - 6 months - Hybrid - Inside IR35

Hamilton Barnes is currently representing a market leading utilities company, who are currently recruiting for a Zigbee Engineer on an initial 6 month contract with the view to extension. The role is signed off inside IR35 and requires one day per week in Reading.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the implementation, and optimization of Zigbee communication systems, with a focus on Linux-based environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the Linux Kernel to ensure smooth communication between Zigbee hardware (coordinators, dongles) and Linux platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to debug and troubleshoot Zigbee communication issues.
• Develop and maintain drivers, ensuring compatibility with Linux distributions.
• Implement and enhance the performance of Zigbee networks and devices within IoT systems.
• Assist in device testing and performance optimization of Zigbee protocols in a Linux environment.

What you Will Ideally Bring:

• Strong experience with Zigbee protocol and its integration with Linux systems.
• Deep understanding of Linux Kernel development and driver programming.
• Proven experience with Zigbee hardware (eg, ConBee, CC2531, XBee modules) and communication standards.
• Experience with open-source projects like Zigbee2MQTT, OpenHAB, or Home Assistant is highly desirable.
• Strong Scripting and coding skills in C, Python, or Bash.

Contract Details:

• Location: One Day Per Week Reading/Remote
• Day Rate: Up to £400 Per Day (Inside)
• Duration: 6 months
