One of our customer - key financial market infrastructure company in Switzerland. Is currently looking for 2 datacenter engineers to join their team.
Availability to work during Weekends and Out of working hours (evening, morning) when needed.
Daily tasks:
- Installation and Setup: install Servers, network Switches, storage devices and other data center hardware according to project specifications and client requirements; Building up data center engineering knowhow (knowing what is state of the art on the market, find possibilities to upgrade/adjust our environment with focus on quality, security and efficiency
- Cabling and Power Management: plan, install and manage data center cabling( fiber optic, cooper and power cabling) and organize infrastructure layout
- Troubleshooting: diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware and connectivity issues promptly to minimize downtim
- System integration: work closely with the network, network security team and system administration teams to integrate new hardware into existing datacenter environment; data center InterconnecT: operation and engineering of the ADVA infrastructure (Dark fiber connections between the Swiss data centers
- Documentation: maintain detailed documentation of installation, configuration and hardware inventory using data center software and tool
- Compliance and Safety: ensure that all installations and maintenance activities comply with the company policies, industry standards and safety regulations.
- Quality Assurance: perform testing and validation of installed systems to ensure they meet operational and performance standards
- Upgrades and Modifications: assist in the upgrades of existing data center infrastructure, including firmware updates, component replacement and hardware reconfiguration
- Client Support: provide technical support to clients and internal teams regarding data center installation and related issue; End-to-end test together with customers for connectivity issues (LAN, WAN, DSL, Wi-Fi, DF)
Qualification:
- Education: Apprenticeship in Telematic / Electrician / Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical engineering or a related field equivalent experience
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in data center installation, maintenance or related field
Technical skills:
- Proficiency in cable management, including fiber optics and structured cabling
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure management
- Basic understanding of power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and cooling systems
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, storage solution and networking equipment
Skills and Competencies:
- Attention to Details: precision in installation and documentation is crucial to maintain the operational efficiency of the data center
- Problem-solving: strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Communication: excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate efficiently with team members and clients
- Teamwork: ability to work well in a team-orientated environment, providing support and assistance where needed
- Certifications: industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CISCO CCNA are good to have
