The Iowa Primary Care Association is currently seeking a Dental Assistant to join the team at a community health center in Council Bluffs, IA.

What is a community health center (FQHC)?

The largest source of comprehensive primary care for medically under-resourced communities and populations.

They have an integrated care model - medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, patients can access comprehensive, coordinated services often under one roof.

Position Details:

Full time, 40 hours/week;

Clinic hours: M-Thurs 8AM - 7PM and Friday 8AM - 5PM

7 operatories

Primary responsibilities are to prepare patients for a visit, check-in and check-out patients and schedule appointments and reappointments.

Procedural skills desired: impressions, radiographs, comfortable with root canals.

Duties:

Prepares, cleans, and sets up operatories for patient appointments.

Takes and mounts dental radiographs (x-rays).

Prepares sterile instruments and equipment.

Prepares patients for their appointment and discharge.

Asks about patient's medical history.

Takes blood pressure and pulse.

Performs dental assistant duties per provider workflow and practice.

Provides and assists with patient discharge.

Provides patients with instruction for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedure.

Registers patients for appointment.

Assists with documentation for accurate billing and charting.

Requirements

Active Dental Assisting Certificate in the state of Iowa

Iowa Radiology Certification, or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire

Sterilization Certification a plus

Previous training and experience in dental assisting.

$18 - $21/hour dependent on experience.
