About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced software engineer to build and lead a dynamic and forward-thinking team as a founding engineer. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust Back End systems, based on Web 2 architecture, that will drive our next-generation DeFi (Decentralised Finance) platform to create a fully decentralised exchange (DEX). Reporting directly to the CTO, you will take ownership of the design, development end-to-end performance of the systems that connect the market to the exchange, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and architecture of Back End systems that connect web and mobile clients to the DEX platform. Ensure these systems are scalable, secure, and efficient.
• Oversee the implementation of Back End systems, with a focus on maintaining high performance and reliability across the stack.
• Work closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration and interface between different system components.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, sharing best practices and helping to develop their technical skills.
• Design and potentially implement custom components, such as blockchain data indexers and other blockchain-specific modules, to support our platform's unique needs.
• Oversee the deployment and ongoing maintenance of Back End systems, ensuring they remain robust and responsive to evolving requirements.

About You:

• 8+ years in Back End engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally in high-performance, production environments.
• Strong background in architecting Back End systems at scale, with experience in Rust, Go, or other high-performance languages.
• Experience in designing and implementing WebSocket-based architectures.
• Ability to tackle complex, ambiguous challenges and distill them into manageable tasks.
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver successful products.
• Experience in start-up environments where rapid iteration and innovation are key.
• Knowledge of decentralised finance (DeFi) and exchanges (DEXs) or other blockchain technologies.
• Proficiency in high performance languages like Rust/Go is highly desirable.
