The Role

At Living Room, the Kitchen Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring that our culinary team delivers exceptional dining experiences. As a Kitchen Supervisor, you’ll lead by example, maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure a cohesive and efficient team.

Quality Control: Oversee the preparation, presentation, and quality of all menu items. Ensure that dishes meet Living Room’s standards for taste, consistency, and appearance before they reach the guests.

Operational Management: Manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and ensuring that all stations are properly stocked and prepared for service.

Food Safety & Sanitation: Enforce strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines, conducting regular inspections of kitchen areas to ensure compliance. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

Scheduling & Staffing: Assist in creating and managing staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts. Handle any staffing issues, including training new hires and addressing performance concerns.

Cost Management: Monitor food costs, portion control, and waste reduction practices. Work with the Executive Chef to develop strategies for maintaining profitability while delivering high-quality dishes.

Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise during service, from equipment malfunctions to staff challenges, with a calm and solutions-oriented approach. Ensure that any guest concerns related to food quality or service are promptly resolved.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Chef and management team to develop and implement new menu items, seasonal specials, and promotional events.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in a culinary role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position in a fast-paced, upscale dining environment.

Culinary Expertise: Strong understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards. Proven ability to execute and oversee the preparation of high-quality dishes.

Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities, with experience in managing kitchen operations, inventory, and staffing. Attention to detail is crucial.

Problem-Solving: Quick thinker with the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.

Flexible Schedule: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Food Handler’s Certificate: Must possess a valid food handler’s certificate; additional certifications (e.g., ServSafe) are a plus.
