Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview
My client are an established manufacturer of filling, capping, packaging, mixing, laboratory and process equipment and machinery, selling their products worldwide.
They currently have an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the Engineering department's capacity and output.
The applicant will be involved with all activities within the engineering department and will report to the Technical Director. Activities will range from machinery design for customer orders, as well as being involved with small R&D projects, product development and cost savings.
The engineer will also be required to support the sales department and will be responsible for preparing technical quotations and accurate costings, holding technical meetings with customers to better understand requirements and issuing technical documentation whilst always adhering to our ISO procedures and systems.
From time to time the applicant may need to be involved with final testing of equipment the presence of customers, and in some cases may be required to travel to site.
The successful candidate will be expected to take complete ownership of design, development and issuing of machines for manufacture. The applicant will also be required to produce build manuals, user manuals, statutory documentation and testing documentation.
The Engineering Department currently consists of the four dedicated Mechanical Design Engineers, and three Control & Automation Engineers. The applicant must be a good team player with a sound understanding of engineering, technical drawings, standards and techniques and must show dedication and be willing to work hard.
Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements
This role requires a proactive, positive and sociable member of the team, with an eye for innovation and creativity, but also the structure and discipline required to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and a drive to 'do things right' and quickly are essential.
In addition to the above, this role would suit someone with the following skills and attributes:
Solidworks competency
Solidworks/ EPDM Vault experience would be an advantage
General computer literacy
A strong degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
A very good understanding of pneumatic control is ideal
Experience on the some of the following areas is ideal. Automated Filling and Capping machines, Mixing and process vessels, Pressure Vessel, ATEX machinery and machine safe design for CE or UKCA compliance
Ideally from the packaging or similar industry
Mechanical Design Engineer Position Remuneration
£40,000 salary
Based in Haywards Heath
35 hours per week (flexibility will be expected to meet deadlines)
Salary negotiable depending on experience
8% company pension contribution
Annual performance related bonus
Annual pay review
