My client is looking to hire a highly skilled SQL Developer/Oracle Database Specialist to join their project team. This role is crucial for producing key business reports, maintaining a large-scale database in a development environment, and ensuring smooth transitions of release changes to the production environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL, Oracle tools, and experience in stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SQL Query Development: Build complex SQL queries to generate business reports and insights.
  • Analyse source systems to effectively join tables and produce accurate and meaningful reports.
  • Database Management: Build and maintain large-scale databases in a development environment.
  • Oracle Tools Expertise: Utilise Oracle Built-in Packages, Bulk Collect/Insert, Array Processing, and Ref Cursors.
  • Dynamic SQL: Develop and manage Dynamic SQL using both literal and bind variables.
  • Script Development: Create scripts to generate views, procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, constraints, and packages.
  • Report Creation: Design and produce reports using Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Discoverer, and BI Publisher.
  • Handle data definition and transaction processes effectively.
  • Optimise SQL queries using Oracle's cost-based optimiser and other query optimisation tools.
  • Database Design: Participate in the design and implementation of logical and physical data models for Oracle databases.
  • Release Management: Oversee the release of changes to the production environment.
  • Manage version control using SVN.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience in SQL development and Oracle database management.
  • Proficiency in BI Publisher and other Oracle reporting tools.
  • Strong understanding of database design, transaction control language, and SQL tuning.
  • Experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience in client-facing roles.
