Are you a passionate and experienced Senior Scientist with expertise in yeast-based technologies? Our client, a leader in the field of scientific research and development, is seeking a talented individual to join their team as a Senior Scientist - Yeast Technical Expert. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and make a significant impact on cross-indication project support.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and communicate the impact of yeast-based heterologous gene expression approaches to support cross-indication projects.
  • Identify, prioritise, and design advances in yeast-based technologies to aid in lead generation activities.
  • Conduct transgenic and library-based experiments using bioinformatics and molecular biology design software, automation, and laboratory microbiological containment facilities.
  • Analyse existing omics datasets and present complex external data independently or in consultation with experts.
  • Continuously develop and expand your knowledge in your scientific discipline and seek to broaden your understanding of other scientific disciplines.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and maintain a good working relationship with functional colleagues.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of all results and adhere to high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated independence in progressing scientific projects in your area of expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in microbiology and molecular biology.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present scientific work to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using bioinformatic tools, literature search tools, general information databases, and Microsoft-based document and communication software.
  • Experience handling large and varied datasets.

Capabilities:

  • 2-4 years working in a scientific laboratory experience in molecular biology, genetics or biochemistry preferably with experience of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and other fungi.
  • Strong planning and organising skills.
  • Adaptability and tenacity in the face of challenges.
  • Ability to identify problems and propose innovative ideas for improvement.
  • Strong leadership skills, leading by example and taking personal responsibility.
  • Motivational skills, providing support and feedback to team members.
  • Ability to understand and adjust to varying needs of individuals.
  • Constructive approach to change and willingness to initiate changes in the workplace.

Education:

  • Preferably MSc, PhD, or equivalent.
