Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Caerphilly – Hybrid Working Options Available
38 Hours 08:30-17:00 Mon-Thu and 08:30-15:00 on Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break daily.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required for a leading technology company who are currently researching, designing and developing a range of new clean energy products.
Candidates will hold a degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, or similar relevant discipline and will be experienced using SolidWorks for 3D modelling and be confident with 2D drawing. You will need experience of high-speed rotating assemblies (such as motors, engines, turbines etc.) and will have a knowledge of geometric tolerancing and BOM generation.
The role is working within a growing team consisting of engineers. You will be developing advanced motor technologies and energy storage systems. You will be responsible for both concept and re-modification, you will be drafting and designing using 3D CAD and SolidWorks. In addition, you will also design and produce 2D drawings of components and assemblies for manufacture.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying and sourcing components, presenting their findings, and generating BOMs. When designing products, you will be responsible for geometric tolerance and finite element analysis, you will assemble prototypes and liaise with key suppliers. You will work with metals and plastics, machined and 3D printed parts as well as writing and implementing test and validation procedures.
