Student Casework Advisor
A well-known university based in the heart of London (zone 1) is seeking to recruit a Student Casework Adviser on an initial 3 month contract role with the possibility of the role being extended or moving into being a permanent position.
The role sits out of the Legal & Governance Team and is one of the School's groupings of Professional and Support Services and is headed by the Director of Governance. The team is the School's point of contact with the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA).
This role requires the post holder to have experience with handling sexual misconduct cases.
The Student Casework Adviser is responsible for supporting the management of student disciplinary and academic misconduct cases, as well as student complaints and academic appeals. Along with other team members, the postholder will support the Student Casework Manager to ensure the provision of a high-quality service and in particular, the independent and timely investigation of student cases.
The postholder will have considerable autonomy and will be expected to develop and maintain positive internal networks with staff, students and the Students' Union.
This is a valued and challenging role which requires high levels of confidentiality, sensitivity and resilience. Focusing on conduct casework and handling cases under the School's Student Disciplinary Procedure this would be a hands-on role, working as part of a team dealing with a range of sometimes difficult cases, which can involve allegations of matters which could be criminal offences (including those involving accusations of sexual or gender-based violence). The post has direct contact with students who are subject to investigation under the Student Code of Conduct.
* Under the direction of the Student Casework Manager to expeditiously handle multiple forms of student casework, particularly disciplinary investigations into the breach of the School's Code of Conduct, ensuring a fair and impartial investigation/review of cases, taking account of a wide range of complex, regulatory and sensitive information with the potential for significant impact on the School's reputation and ability to deliver services.
* To be responsible for the management and administration of the student cases being considered by the OIA as delegated by the Student Casework Manager and to provide regular updates about the progress of these cases.
* To develop appropriate and effective ways of communicating with students, staff and other stakeholders including the preparation and production of guidance information and materials using a variety of media.
* To maintain a working knowledge and understanding of policies and regulations relating to academic matters to inform the location of casework appropriately within the relevant procedure.
* To assist the Student Casework Manager with student casework and related training sessions, including (with the agreement of the Student Casework Manager) leading training sessions.
If interested in a role to start as soon as possible, with hybrid working on site in London once/twice a month - please apply today.
